Who we are

Cheervelo is a personal-motivation app that lets you receive short audio messages of encouragement ("cheers") from people you invite. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. Questions: hello@cheervelo.com.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your name, email, and profile from your sign-in provider (Clerk).
  • Contacts you add — the name and, optionally, the mobile number of people you add to your Cheering Section, so you can send them a link to record a cheer. A number is only stored if you choose to provide one.
  • Content — the goals you create, progress you log, and the audio cheers recorded for you.
  • Donations — if you choose to support Cheervelo, payments are processed by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers. We store the amount and, unless you give anonymously, your name and email address for our records. Donations are voluntary tips, not tax-deductible.
  • Usage data — basic technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use it to operate Cheervelo: to help you invite people and share a private link to record a cheer, store and play back your cheers, track your goals, process any donations, and keep the service secure. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

Text messages & sharing

Cheervelo does not send text messages on your behalf. When you invite someone to your Cheering Section, we create a private link and you share it yourself using your phone's normal sharing options (Messages, WhatsApp, email, and so on). Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply to any message you choose to send.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. A phone number is stored only if you choose to provide one for a contact, and is used solely to help you reach that person.

If we introduce app-sent text messaging in the future, we may use a third-party provider such as Twilio, and we will update this policy before doing so.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers that operate Cheervelo on our behalf — such as our authentication provider (Clerk), payment processor (Stripe), and database and storage providers (Neon, Cloudflare) — and only as needed to run the service. We may disclose information if required by law.

Data retention & your choices

We keep your information while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.

Children

Cheervelo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
